THIRD PHASE OF DEVELOPMENT COMPLETES AT £3 MILLION FORMER COLLIERY SITE 13 December 2007

- 70% of units already under offer at Green Lane, Featherstone
The local economy has received a significant boost , following the completion of 42,950 sq ft of high specification industrial premises by regeneration specialist, Priority Sites. The scheme, which has transformed a former colliery in Featherstone, West Yorkshire, will create up to 86 jobs when fully occupied.
The £3 million Innovation Square scheme is the third phase of speculative development by Priority Sites, on the Green Lane site. Interest has been extremely high, with enquiries coming from companies looking to expand as well as those from further afield. The third phase completes with 70% of units already under offer on completion.
The development comprises 10 high specification industrial units, ranging in size from 2,000-10,000 sq ft, with the option to combine the individual units into larger premises. The new commercial accommodation, which is available to rent or buy, is conveniently located close to the M1, A1 and M62 arterial motorways links - all factors that have contributed to the popularity of the scheme.
David Carr, Chief Executive of Priority Sites comments, “We are delighted at the success of this scheme. Since development began at Green Lane, we have developed over 100,000 sq ft of new industrial premises and created or retained in excess of 200 jobs in the local area and this latest phase will play a crucial role in boosting the local economy. It is already attracting the type of flourishing businesses that want to expand and need to employ local people to prosper. Completion of the scheme is great news for Featherstone.”
Priority Sites has worked with Yorkshire Forward and English Partnerships to bring the development to fruition. Dave Custance, Head of Strategic Development and Property for Yorkshire Forward said: “Yorkshire Forward is delighted with the success of the site at Green Lane in Featherstone over the three phases of development. The occupancy rate demonstrates that there is a real need for business premises at a local level.”
