30 January 2008

Leading regeneration specialist, Priority Sites has announced PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP as the first occupier at the developer’s 35,000 sq ft prestigious office scheme, Two Humber Quays.

The global accountancy firm will relocate from Guildhall Road, Hull to occupy 10,432 sq ft of the 35,000 sq ft Grade A office building on the city’s waterfront, which was officially launched last month by the Lord Mayor of Kingston- upon- Hull, Councillor Brenda Petch.

The leading professional services firm are renting the high quality office space on a 15 year lease and plan to move into the new premises in March. Tim Charge, senior partner of PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP in Hull comments: “We are very excited about the move to Two Humber Quays. We have wanted to relocate in Hull for quite sometime but until now, have been unable to find the right kind of accommodation to suit our requirements. The high specification, prime location and flexible space that the new building offers fit the bill perfectly.”

Tim continues; “PricewaterhouseCoopers through its predecessor firms has operated in Hull for over 125 years.  We are proud of that heritage and want to play our part in the future development of Hull’s economic performance.  We are committed to continue to grow our practice in Hull and East Yorkshire and have recently strengthened our senior team. This is an exciting time for the Hull practice and we are actively recruiting in all parts of the business to strengthen our team even further.”

The £7 million office scheme, which is assisting in the transformation of the Waterfront area of Hull, lies adjacent to One Humber Quays, an office project brought forward by Hull Citybuild.  The urban regeneration company has also played a role in assisting Priority Sites in bringing their ambitious scheme forward.

John Boanas, development director of Priority Sites, adds: “We are delighted that a major firm such as PricewaterhouseCoopers has become our first occupier.

“We and our partners have worked very hard throughout the design and build process to ensure we provide contemporary and innovative premises to meet the demands of the modern business. The fact that we have received a very high level of enquiries and have secured a major occupier on completion, illustrates the buoyant demand for grade A office premises in Hull. There is no doubt that quality offices attract quality occupiers and we are pleased to be playing a significant role in the future prosperity of the city.”

John Holmes, Chief Executive at Hull Citybuild, commented: “We are delighted that PricewaterhouseCoopers will be the first tenant at Two Humber Quays, the second office building which was completed late last year as a part of the development of Hull’s new waterfront business district.”

He added: “Humber Quays is establishing a reputation for being the city’s most prestigious business address, already providing a home to The Royal Bank of Scotland and World Trade Centre Hull & Humber as well as incorporating Freedom Quay, a stunning residential development which saw 75% of apartments selling within just 2 hours, before construction work had even begun.  As an internationally respected firm, PricewaterhouseCoopers fits perfectly within this area and its move to more modern premises demonstrates their commitment to supporting the future of the city.”

Further office suites are currently available, ranging in size between 1,575 sq.ft through to 25,149sq. ft. It is anticipated that the project will create and retain 250 jobs for the city when it is fully occupied.
