VESTY BUSINESS PARK TOPS OFF GREEN CREDENTIALS IN BOOTLE

• Merseyside businesses take advantage of green scheme with 30,000 sq ft of commercial space under offer prior to completion

Leading regeneration specialist, Priority Sites, has reached a major milestone on the development of its £14 million Vesty Business Park this week, and cemented the scheme’s green credentials, with the erection of a landmark wind turbine on the site. The energy generating turbines, which are also being installed on the scheme’s 21 individual business units, will provide 10% of the developments entire energy supply.

The 155,000 sq ft commercial park on Bridle Road is due for final completion in June and is already proving popular with Merseyside businesses keen to embrace a green agenda. Prior to completion, the developer has announced 30,000 sq ft of the high quality commercial space is already under offer.

Vesty Business Park, which will create around 360 jobs for the local area, is the national developer’s largest scheme to date. In addition to the use of renewable energy sources, the developer has committed to an extensive tree-planting programme and laid out a green travel plan for occupiers. The scheme is on track to achieve a ‘very good’ BREEAM rating, the Industry standard which measures the efficiency of energy usage in new buildings.

Area development manager for Priority Sites, Murray Carr, commented:  “There is an increasing demand for commercial accommodation that responds to the environment, and it is vital that both developers and occupiers take strides towards reducing their carbon footprint.

“We have worked closely with InvestSefton and the council to bring the ‘green’ scheme forward, and we are very encouraged by the market interest. We have found that by providing high quality commercial premises that meet the demands of the modern business and also utilise renewable energy sources, we can help environmentally conscious businesses to operate more efficiently without compromising on productivity.”

Later this year, Priority Sites will start work on an £11 million ‘green’ office development, Senate Business Park, also on Bridle Road, to complement the existing commercial premises on offer at Vesty Business Park. The 80,000 sq ft Senate Business Park development will boast similar green credentials. Along with other energy efficient design, the scheme will incorporate 10% on site renewable energy through the use of ground source heat pumps.

Priority Sites has so far completed 255,000 sq ft of quality commercial accommodation across the North West, most recently at Turnstone Business Park, Widnes and Brookfield Business Park, Aintree, creating over 500 jobs along the way. The company has a further 250,000 sq ft of development currently in the pipeline for 2008/09 and is firmly on track with the delivery of £50 million investment programme for the North West region.
