LYMEDALE BUSINESS PARK CONTINUES TO EVOLVE

The last two remaining industrial units are now under offer at the latest development on the Lymedale Business Park, Newcastle-Under-Lyme, following the sale of the first four units on the site last month.

Priority Sites’ 57,000 sq ft Evolution development has already seen kiln maker Bricesco and national electrical firm City Electrical Factors purchase more than 11,500 sq ft of space, each company having bought a pair of adjoining units on the site.

The development also comprises seven offices and four hybrids (combining a first floor of offices with ground floor space for either light industrial use or further office accommodation) that are available to buy or lease. Once fully-occupied the units will provide employment for around 180 people.

Priority Sites, which is jointly owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland and English Partnerships, was appointed by Staffordshire County Council to further regenerate the site of the former Holditch Colliery by investing £11 million in the development on Lymedale West, an area of the business park designated to provide SME accommodation.

At this week’s ceremony to mark the completion of the scheme, Newcastle MP Paul Farrelly commented:  “Now more than ever, it is really vital to bring skilled employment to Newcastle and North Staffordshire. This new enterprise centre is a key part of the whole regeneration package at Lymedale and I’m delighted to see good companies already taking advantage of the benefits our area has to offer.”

Staffordshire County Council’s Cabinet Member for Economic Regeneration and Sustainable Communities Councillor John Wakefield said the development was a real boost.

“The Lymedale project has generated hundreds of new job opportunities for local people over the last five years sweeping away the industrial dereliction and depression of the past. It’s all about creating a dynamic cluster of energetic business investment opportunities. The Evolution concept is the latest addition to the family and we are really excited by it,” he said.

Bill Skilki, Priority Sites’ chief executive added: “We have worked closely with Staffordshire County Council to deliver this project and further transform the park into a prime business location within the county.

“As well as helping to regenerate the local economy, Evolution is also set to help companies crystallise their business plans and evolve by providing high quality SME accommodation that has been so scare in the area until now.”
