REDRUTH DEVELOPER SCOOPS PRESTIGIOUS
SW PROPERTY AWARD

Commercial developer Priority Sites has scooped a top South West property award for its contribution to the regeneration of the region.

The regeneration specialist, which operates nationally but has a South West office on the Treleigh Industrial Estate, Redruth, has become Commercial Developer of the Year in Insider Magazine’s Property Awards South West 2008.

In the inaugural awards ceremony run by the business magazine, the judging panel cited the geographic spread of developments by Priority Sites and the developer’s contribution to the region including the far reaches of Cornwall, as one of the main reasons for awarding the accolade. The judges also noted that Priority Sites often successfully delivered new developments in ‘hard markets’.

Since establishing its Redruth office two and a half years’ ago, Priority Sites, which is a joint venture company owned by the Royal Bank of Scotland and English Partnerships, has become one of the most active developers across the region.

The company develops mostly on a speculative basis providing occupiers the flexibility to purchase or let industrial, office or hybrid premises (50/50 split between office and light industrial space).

To date, Priority Sites has delivered nearly 500,000 sq ft of commercial premises in the South West, representing an investment of around £26m, and supporting around 600 jobs in the process.

This year, the developer completed business units at Callywith Gate, Bodmin and an office development in St Austell, and a further office scheme is due to complete next month at Falmouth Business Park. Future plans will see Priority Sites stretching its influence wider across Dorset and Somerset with starts on-site proposed for 2008/2009 at Osprey Quay, Portland in Dorset; Morlands Enterprise Park in Glastonbury; as well as a third phase of development on the Treleigh Industrial Estate, Redruth.

Miles Carden, Priority Sites’ area development manager comments: “This is a fantastic accolade to have achieved and is due not only to the hard work of the Priority Sites team, but also our strength in working closely in partnership with those at the heart of delivering sustainable regeneration across the South West, including contractors and designers.”
